FLOWER ESSENCES
Would you believe that there is relief from depression in an essence of mustard flowers, or that plum blossoms curb destructive impulses?
Flower Essences were developed in the 1930’s by the English physician Edward Bach. Today there are over a dozen different companies that market products with U.S. sales estimated at 10 to 14 million dollars last year, rising at a rate of 25 percent annually.
So what’s all the fuss over a flower? Flower Essences are the life force of plants collected from their energy field or aura. When flower petals are placed in water and allowed to sit in the sun for a period of about three hours, a specific healing and balancing pattern is released into the water in a highly condensed form. This “essence” raises your energy vibrations and opens channels for the reception of the spiritual or Higher Self. Once the blockage has been resolved, the energy of the Higher Self can be fully utilized by your Personality.
Flower Essences work directly with both the electrical and central nervous system. By taking the correct essences, the electrical system is balanced and the nervous system stabilized. This in effect stops the domino effect that leads to illness or if we are already “sick”, drastically reduces recovery time.
Essences also give you insight as to what is causing the problem. There are flower remedies to help release guilt and shame, increase self esteem, become more open to love, stimulate creativity and develop spiritually in a balanced and grounded way. Others can help you learn to deal with your emotions in more mature and conscious ways and to release old shocks and traumas.
Flower Essences thus address emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being. Perelandra and Bach Flower Essences are self adjusting with either immediate or gradual, subtle changes. They may be taken under the tongue, used in your bath or diffused.
Bach identified 38 flowers whose essences he believed offered emotional healing. A five flower combination dubbed Rescue Remedy is particularly useful in stressful situations.
The Flower Essences affect a wide range of emotions. In order to choose the proper essence or combination, the individual must first answer a series of personality questions or read the attributes of each essence to determine what “need” you currently have.
So you think this is all for the birds? Actually essences work on animals too! Dogs and cats that cower in a vet’s office will come out of hiding minutes after receiving Mimulus, the essence prescribed for fear.
